We are a public health development organization with strong implementation and technical assistance capacity. ACHAP was established as a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Government of Botswana, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and The Merck Foundation (TMF) in 2000. Using a proposal-driven strategy, ACHAP provided financial and technical support to the Government of Botswana, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and the private sector. ACHAP is an African born, non-profit making organization, headquartered in Gaborone, Botswana. We are an independent entity with a broader health mandate, wider geographical focus, and leveraging on our core competencies in the field of HIV/AIDS and related health conditions.

  • A brief overview of past and current projects:Headquartered in Gaborone Botswana, in 2013 a revised strategy paved the way for ACHAP to expand its geographical footprint to provide population health focused activities throughout Africa. The recent study of Human Rights and Gender Barriers to accessing TB, TB/HIV health and compensation services in the mines funded by the World Bank through Aquity Innovations; as well as implementation of the Regional Global Fund’s Community Systems Strengthening Module for the TB in the Mines for Southern Africa (TIMS), both included extensive work in the four targeted countries of Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia.
